The Bodenseeklinik: No. 1 for liposuction / liposuction
Highest quality for over 35 years
Liposuction, liposuction
Various application areas of liposuction for every problem area
A young face can be impaired in its beauty by a double chin, and a slender waist can greatly lose advantage due to the "rides" on the thighs. If there is a corresponding familial predisposition, then certain fat pads stubbornly oppose any form of diet or sport.

Liposuction/Liposuction
Many are no longer willing to put up with superficial fat pads and fat deposits, hanging pads, annoying hip fat or voluminous thighs and decide to suck the fat cells because of these fat accumulations to improve your body feeling. Especially with regard to a desired body shape, a change in diet and sporting activities are often not always sufficient, so that liposuction / liposuction takes on a greater importance in aesthetic surgery.
Possible causes
- Unhealthy nutrition
- Lack of exercise/sport
- Genetic predisposition
- Changes in metabolism
- Changes in hormone balance
- Age-related fat distribution disorder
- Lipedema
What is the effect of liposuction? Mental, social and health consequences
Many people disturb superficial fat deposits on the body, which lead to certain physical disproportion. This can have consequences: withdrawal from social life – usually the swimming pool or the beach is avoided. Thus, for example, the removal of fat deposits with its fat cells on the inner sides of the thighs is also advantageous, since the soft tissue rubbing is reduced, which can lead to sweating and eczema in the corresponding regions.

Liposuction – This is how it is done
Advice, preliminary considerations, process, duration, risks.
Preliminary talks
In a personal conversation, an anamnesis is raised in practice, wishes are explored and what is medically and aesthetically advisable and feasible is thoroughly clarified. Our specialists inform you in the consultation about all important points – the initial situation, the treatment such as surgical methods, the alternatives, the risks and complications as well as the follow-up treatment. After clarification of basic facts as well as a possible clarification of lipoedema, an in-depth examination as well as the clarification of the implementation of liposuction / liposuction in the context of the first presentation in our practice consultation for plastic surgery takes place. They are also fully informed about the costs incurred.

Safety always takes precedence – for questions we are in contact with the patient’s doctors.
The procedure: the Tumescence Method (TLA)
The TLA uses a physiological saline solution in conjunction with dilute epinephrine, a local anesthetic and sodium bicarbonate injected into the subcutaneous fatty tissue. This leads to swelling of the tissue, which is accompanied by vasoconstriction and tissue anesthesia, so that liposuction can be carried out with little pain. If pain nevertheless occurs, it is possible to administer further pain medications.

We also need additional information about
- Allergies
- General diseases
- Pre-operations
Exclusions: when is not operated on?
Here we are in close contact with the supervising specialists. Tumescent liposuction cannot be performed if:
- allergies to one of the ingredients of the tumescence solution are present,
- patients are prone to blood clot formation,
- medical contraindications (diseases or previous operations),
- if there is a body perception disorder (dysmorphophobia).
Expiry date of liposuction
Stunning and assisted liposuction with vibration (Power Assisted – PAL)
Vibration-assisted liposuction takes place in local anesthesia: in tumescence-local anesthesia, in combination with sedative drugs. Anesthesia and general anesthesia are no longer necessary in liposuction.
Control
We perform the operation in the operating room and regularly measure all important parameters such as blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation.
Decision on the operation
Overweight?
In the case of general overweight, a conventional weight loss and conversion of the diet must first take place, because liposuction is not suitable for permanent reduction of body weight in aesthetic surgery. In the case of lipoedema with an increased body mass index, liposuction for the treatment of this disease and improvement of the body contour and body shape can nevertheless be useful.
- Abdominal liposuction
- Liposuction on the arms
- Liposuction on the legs
- Chin liposuction
Operational procedures
Before the treatment, the areas to be sucked off are marked standing. After that, the tumescence local anesthesia of the tissue is performed: the fat cells are prepared for liposuction and the bleeding tendency is lowered.
After 30-35 minutes of exposure of the tumescent liquid, the labeled fabric is washed off sterile and a sterile covering is effected. This process is very important to avoid healing disorders and infections.

Aftercare – the day after and the next few weeks
Healing time after liposuction
The aftercare essentially consists of a combination of balanced nutrition, sports, endurance sports and cardio training as well as muscle stabilization. For successful regeneration, a lot of exercise, wearing a bodice and administering decongestant and anti-inflammatory preparations are prescribed.

Abdominal liposuction
For a slim line: liposuction in the abdominal and hip areas
This operation is not only limited to the anterior abdominal area – in order to create a harmonious, slim silhouette, the specialist team of the Bodenseeklinik not only absorbs the excess fat in the abdominal region, but also at the hip.
When is suction on the stomach considered?
Liposuction in the abdominal area is useful for excess abdominal fat, fat distribution disorders, after pregnancies, fat deposits and weight loss.
Another important area of application is the contouring liposuction after accidents, if asymmetries have arisen due to pre-operations and introductory scars.
Liposuction on the stomach – This is how it is done.
Here, too, the advanced and modern Tumeszenz suction treatment is used. When sucking fat in the abdominal area, the subcutaneous fat is filtered off – i.e. the fat between skin and muscle. At the standing patient is previously marked where and how much fat is removed from the abdomen and hip.
In the further course (over about 30 minutes) the Tumeszenz solution is injected into the problem zones via a gentle pump system. The Tumeszenz solution contains a local anesthetic agent. The injected liquid prepares the fat cells, it swells, blood coagulation is reduced and releases the fat cells from the connective tissue.
This is how it is done
In order to give the poor a more slim contour, the medical team at the Bodenseeklinik absorbs the excess fat in the appropriate place between skin and muscles.
The areas to be treated are marked on the standing patient and then the Tumeszenz solution is injected into the problem zones. This special solution also includes a local anesthetic, which allows almost pain-free treatment without anesthesia.
During the procedure, the following basically happens: the Tumeszenz solution prepares the fat cells, then releases them from the connective tissue in the arm – after which the fat can be sucked off in a tissue-friendly manner by means of a cannula that is up to three millimeters thin.
Liposuction on the arms
Liposuction of the upper arms
Sometimes the proportions of the body do not want to fit right to each other. This can be the case, for example, if the arms are very round but the remaining figure is very slim. A lipoedema can also lead to a symmetrical disproportion on the upper arms.
This problem can be solved by the specialist team at the Bodenseeklinik with a liposuction on the arms. The aim is to achieve a harmonious, natural appearance.
Liposuction on the legs
Liposuction on the legs
Away with the "reiter pants" – for many a great relief. But as regards liposuction on the legs, there can be different problem zones. A liposuction on the inside of the thighs also has advantages.
These problem areas can be badly distrained, but after a liposuction you feel better, can wear more elegant clothes and have less inhibitions to show yourself in the public – especially on the beach and in the swimming pool. In addition, the thighs no longer rub together so strongly, which leads to sweating and wound rubbing.
The procedure is carried out with a predisposition to equestrian pants, on the occurrence of lipoedema and in accidents after which a contouring liposuction is carried out. Liposuction in the hip, butt and thigh areas can be performed from the age of 16.
Liposuction on the legs – this is how it is done
The Tumescent extraction method is a gentle method – strange as it may sound. In the Bodenseeklinik – unlike in the past – surgery is carried out without general anesthesia and without the thick cannulas as in classic liposuction.
In the tumescence extraction method, the Tumescent local anesthesia and thin, blunt cannulas as well as assistance systems such as vibration technology, which are very gentle on the tissue.
Before the actual suction process, the specialist marks the corresponding areas on the standing patient.
Facts and figures
- Operation time: 2 – 2.5 hours
- Clinical stay: 3 days
- Costs: 2000,- € per zone plus additional costs
- Regeneration phase after surgery: 3 – 5 days
- Ability to work: 2-3 days after the operation
- Exercise: after 4 weeks
- Wearing the bodice: 3-8 weeks
After the operation
After the procedure, there is often a slight pulling as in a sore muscle, which disappears after a few days – After that, a bodice is also adapted here. After the operation, a 24-hour monitoring phase follows, during which the patient should move a lot so that the fluid can drain. The result is permanent and can be sustained for a long time through discipline and sport.
Sitting or lying down after the operation?
On the day of the operation: 15 minutes of running, 45 minutes of rest.
Liposuction on the chin / double chin
Double chin removal by liposuction
Also for patients who suffer from an unsightly double chin, the method of liposuction is suitable. Liposuction on the chin is only a small procedure in which the medical team of the Bodenseeklinik frees you from the annoying hanging fat pads on the chin and makes you look fresh again.
When is liposuction considered?
- Upon request
- after accidents
This is how it is done
First of all, the cosmetic surgeons on the patient's chin draw the spots that are to be extracted later. This happens while standing, because the fat distribution on the chin is different when the patient is lying down.
The tumescence solution is injected, prepares the fat cells and detaches them from the connective tissue in the affected area, after which the fat can be sucked off gently by means of a milimeter-thin cannula. So that no traces of surgery are visible later, the medical team places the stitches necessary for the cannula in hidden places on the arms. These stitches are not stitched after liposuction, but only glued with a patch and heal without scars.
Facts and figures
- Operation time: 1.5 hours
- Costs: 2000,- € per zone plus incidental costs
- Regeneration phase after operation: 7 days
- Workability: after 2-3 days after surgery
- Sports: after 2 weeks
- Wearing a wrap at the chin-neck party for contouring at night for 4 weeks
Personal recommendation of Prof. Mang and Dr. Altmann
"A liposuction is not suitable for removal, but rather to eliminate problem areas. After liposuction, a 24-hour stationary monitoring is necessary. An antibiotic and thrombosis protection and the wearing of a compression band or a bodice for 6-8 weeks.
The skin is then treated with medical cosmetics (body lotion, body gel). After 3-4 weeks, sport is again possible."
